Every Grandma’s Famous Baking Tips And Techniques.

I am a grandma who loves to bake. So when my munchkin’s that I call grandchildren are traveling, the first thing I want to do is bake and prepare some snacks for them to enjoy while seeing the sights.

However, I occasionally have to remind myself that baking is a science. It is about exact measurements, ingredients, timing and temperature. If I mess up any of those elements, the grandkids will end up with a messy snack. If you are in a high altitude, you must adjust your recipe to make sure it turns out to be a familiar favorite, and not a mushy mess.

Humidity and climate also play a huge part in baking. At extreme temperatures, water has a lower boiling point and liquids evaporate faster. I am a grandma, not a scientist, so I can’t explain it. All I do know is how to bake the goodies my grandchildren love to enjoy.

Don’t be afraid to bake. If you are baking or packing goodies for you or yours to travel into extreme altitudes or climates, there are websites that offer recipes with adjusted ingredients. Some baking goods have adjustments listed on the packaging.
